Entry Classification Criteria
1. Judging Based on Primary Technique
-
Determine based on the technique that constitutes more than 50% of the treatment or the one you spend the most time performing, and whether it originates from Western or Eastern traditions.
-
If you use multiple techniques in roughly equal proportions, determine based on the theoretical foundation (whether you incorporate meridians or acupressure points).
2. Flexibility of Technique Combination
You may freely combine multiple techniques or focus on a single one. It’s also acceptable to include techniques from other traditions partially.
Examples:
-
Swedish massage only → Freestyle Western
-
Swedish as the main technique with some shiatsu → Freestyle Western
-
Shiatsu only → Freestyle Eastern
-
Thai traditional as the main technique with some oil treatment → Freestyle Eastern
3. Final Judgment When Unsure
-
If your practice actively uses the concepts of meridians, qi, or acupressure points, focusing on energy balance and internal harmony, → Freestyle Eastern
-
If your approach centers on Western anatomy and myofascial release, emphasizing muscle relaxation, improved circulation, and structural alignment, → Freestyle Western
Decide based on which philosophy or theory your work is rooted in.
